Perry County Juvenile Probation Partners with Regional Juvenile Probation Offices to Host Youth Fishing Derby

Perry County, PA — Perry County Juvenile Probation is partnering with the juvenile probation offices of Lebanon, Dauphin, Cumberland, and York counties to host a regional Youth Fishing Derby on Friday, August 14, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Little Buffalo State Park. Fishing will take place from the Dam/Boat launch at the East side of the Lake to the Swimming Pool area to the Southwest of the Lake.

The event is designed to provide youth with an opportunity to enjoy the outdoors, build positive relationships, and participate in a day of recreation in one of central Pennsylvania’s most scenic settings. By bringing together neighboring juvenile probation departments, the fishing derby highlights a shared commitment to creating meaningful experiences that promote personal growth, teamwork, and community engagement.

Participants will enjoy a full day of fishing at Little Buffalo State Park while connecting with peers, probation staff, and community partners in a fun and welcoming environment. The event reflects the ongoing efforts of the participating counties to offer positive programming that encourages healthy activities, builds confidence, and strengthens community ties.

This fishing derby is more than just a day on the water—it’s an opportunity for young people to experience success, develop new skills, and build positive connections with caring adults and their peers.

The participating juvenile probation offices are proud to collaborate on this regional initiative and look forward to providing youth with a memorable day of outdoor recreation and fellowship at Little Buffalo State Park. Prizes will be awarded for the first fish caught, biggest fish as well as most fish.
