The 911 Center is the Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) for Perry County. All municipal police, fire/rescue and emergency medical calls for service come to the Dispatch Center. All 911 calls for the Pennsylvania State Police Newport come to the Perry County 911 Center first. It operates 24 hours a day and is staffed by 7 full-time and 14 part-time dispatchers. All county police, fire companies and ambulances are dispatched by radio from this location, utilizing 5 remote tower sites. The communications center and the remote tower sites are all supported by emergency generators in the event of a major power outage.
