Mission Statement

The mission of the Perry County Prothonotary’s Office is to strive to deliver prompt, courteous and professional service in the most efficient and cost-effective manner to all. In addition, process and preserve all documents in a manner according to the requirements set forth in the Pennsylvania Rules of Civil Procedure.

Duties of the Prothonotary

The Prothonotary is the elected civil clerk of the Court of Common Pleas. The Prothonotary is the keeper of the records.

The Prothonotary is responsible for the filing and recording of legal documents of a widely diversified nature such as: administering oaths, civil suits, custody, divorce, District Justice appeals, driver’s license suspension appeals, judgments, mechanic liens, name changes, protection from abuse and Federal and State tax liens.

In addition, the office is an Acceptance Agent for Passport Applications. For applications and the latest information on Passport Service Operations, please visit their website at travel.state.gov.
